Host to the LPGA Tour on four occasions
Set Among the rolling terrain of a 16th century plantation, The Tradition
Club is a Ron Garl course designed in the tradition of the great courses
from around the world. Test your power on large landing areas that allow for big
swings off the tee and your accuracy against well-guarded greens that require
precise shot making. Combined with exceptional beauty, it's a course that is as
enjoyable to play as it is challenging. Ranked 4 1/2 Stars by Golf Digest in 2008
"Top Fairways" for 1998 by Golf for
Women "Best New Public Course" 1996 by Golf Digest Wild Wing
(Avocet)
The opening hole, a 402-yard par-4, sports grass depressions in lieu of
sand bunkers around the green. The par-4 sixth hole features a three-tiered,
double green shared with the par-3 17th. The 362-yard ninth, considered by
many to be the signature hole, has a double fairway bisected by a line of
grass and sand pot bunkers. Each hole is memorable due to the enjoyment and playability of each one
and golfers come back to this favorite year and after year. The South Carolina
Golf Course Owners Association named The Avocet Course at Wild Wing Plantation
South Carolina's 2002-2003 Golf Course of the Year.
This Jack Nicklaus signature design is a player's course that demands
strategy, ingenuity and concentration. The classic Lowcountry design has
earned it recognition and praise from some of the nation's foremost golf
authorities, including Golf Digest, Travel & Leisure, Golf and Golf for
Women Magazine. Golf Digest ranked Pawleys Plantation among South Carolina's
"Top 25 Layouts" in 2001 and recently awarded it 4 stars in
"Places to Play." Zagat has ranked Pawley's Plantation among the top
courses in the United States in its 2007/08 guide, "America's Top Golf
Courses." This course is the centerpiece of one of the premier golf
communities on the Carolina Coast, blessed with an abundance of live oaks and
breathtaking views of the saltwater marsh. "America's Top Golf Courses" - Zagat Survey, 2009 Golf Digest's Best Places to Play - 2005: 4 stars; 2003: 5
