The
tough and beautiful Trillium
Wood Golf Club in Belleville, ON played host to the 3rd
annual Public Golf Association’s RYDER CUP on August 6th.
Sixty amateur golfers from across Ontario and Quebec,
representing 5 distinct Public Golf Tours (The LINKS Tour, The AMA
Tour & The Mulligan Tour Chapters from Toronto, Ottawa and
Kingston), played off in a head-to-head format for the cup.
Teams of
12 players with handicaps from 4 to 32, played off in a 6 hole
scramble, 6 hole best-ball and 6 hole alternate shot format, similar
to the RYDER CUP structure.
After 18
holes of regulation play there was a 3-way tie between The Mulligan
Tours’ Ottawa & Toronto Chapters and The LINKS Tour with 9 ½
points each. A
pressure-packed 3-hole playoff between Captains of the three teams
ensued, with The LINKS Tour edging out The Mulligan Tour Toronto by 1
stroke!
On
Saturday afternoon a net singles event was held featuring 45 of the 60
players in which Dave
Stotland of Montreal won low-net honors with a gross score of
78 and net of 66.
Our
thanks go out to Trillium Wood Golf Club, a most gracious and capable
host, Hollyrood’s Restaurant and The Quality Inn for their
contributions towards making this a great weekend for all
participants…both on and off the golf course!!
