Bunker Hill
(Stableford
Scoring & Skins)
Sunday, August
3rd
The
Mulligan Tour dodged another bullet this weekend and played at Bunker
Hill Golf Course in Medina. While
the forecast called for rain, the weather turned out to be pretty
good.
Architect
Dave Hawk constructed a masterful round, shooting an 82.
Using the Stableford scoring system, Dave earned 23 points and
cruised to victory.
Former
John Carroll University golfer Peter Rodenhauser fired the low round
of the year with an impressive 76.
While it is difficult for lower handicappers to do well in this
event, Peter had 2 net eagles and finished in second with 17 points.
While
CPA Alan Keptner shot a net 73, his 8 net birdies helped him squeek
out a third place finish over Gregg Roberts and and Joe Scuer.
Overall,
Dave and Peter had the 2 best net rounds of the day.
While Gregg Roberts was the only other player under par, the
two 8’s he had on 9 and 18 pushed him into 4th place.
But don’t feel bad for Gregg; he picked up the pin shot on
the front nine and finished in 4th place.
Skins
were tough to come by on the front.
Dave Hawk and Gregg Roberts birdied the 5th hole;
Dave Wilson and Chuck Nagy both birdied the 7th.
On
the 9th hole; Peter Rodenhauser birdied the #1 handicap
hole for the first skin. Playing
partners Jeff Hillgoth and Brent Leslie were the only 2 players to par
the hole. Peter also birdied another difficult hole, the long par 4 15th
for his second skin of the day.
Ken
Schley did not finish in 4th or 5th place this
week, but that didn’t keep him from picking up a skin on the short
par 4 11th hole with a birdie.
Jeff
Hilgoth had a terrific up and down from about 60 yards on the par 5 12th
hole. Jeff was the only
player to birdie the hole and won his first skin of the year.
There
were 3 birdies on the short par 4 16th; Danielle Folliet,
Dick Neroda and Peter Rodenhauser all made 3’s.
Joe
Scuer hit a terrific shot within 5 feet on the 188 yard par 3 17th
hole. Joe converted this
great shot into a birdie and captured the final skin of the event.
Finally,
NOT ONE player parred the final hole.
18 played 2.4 strokes OVER par.
The easiest hole was the short par 4 7th hole, which
played only .6 over par as a group!
Year
to date, Ken Schley has taken the overall points leaded, followed by
Dave Wilson and two-time champion Michael Thompson. Joe Scuer remains close in 4th place and Dave Hawk
jumped to 5th place with this weeks’ victory!
