The
Mulligan Tour had its second 2 man Best Ball event this past weekend
at Grantwood Golf Course in Solon.
While the scores were not as low as the Briarwood event, it was
definitely a tougher course.
Craig
Chenevey and Bryan Corban both had solid rounds that led them into a
tie for first place. Both
players played around their handicaps and helped each other out when
another faltered. A net eagle 1 on the par 3 14th was the highlight
of the round. This is
Bryan and Craig’s first trip to the winner’s circle.
Congrats!
Tied
with Craig and Bryan was the team of Dave Hawk and Gregg Roberts.
These two have been the hottest players on Tour as of late.
The tandem produced an Best Ball score of 29 on the back nine,
including a skin for each player!
Finishing
in third was the team of Joe Scuer and Melissa Sikora.
Melissa finished in third place in the last Best Ball event and
complimented Joe’s solid play.
After finishing the first 10 holes at 1 over par, the team
birdied the last eight holes to shoot an amazing
net 28 on the back nine.
There
were no birdies on the first 5 holes, in fact, not one person in the
field parred the par 3 4th hole.
Dick Neroda birdied the par 5 6th to get the first skin of the
day. Painesville CC
Champion Skip Fairbanks started a streak of skins by birdying the par
4 eighth hole. Cherokee
Hills Champion Dave Wilson birdied the par 3 ninth hole and
partner-less Gary Boyd started of his back nine with a birdie on 10.
Gary also won closest to the pin on the front!
Points leader Gregg Roberts birdied the 11th to end the streak
of 4 straight holes with skins. Bryan
Corban continued his domination of the par 3’s this year with a
birdie on the 14th. Both
Dave Wilson and Craig Chenevey birdied the 17th hole while only one
person, Dave Hawk, was able to par the par-4 18th hole!
