The
Mulligan Tour made its way to Gleneagles Golf Course in Twinsburg this
past weekend, and the course proved to be very difficult.
George
Herrling finished in first place by shooting an 87.
With his 15 handicap, George was the only player not to finish
over par.
Jake
Zapolink finished in second place by shooting a net 74.
Jake’s gross score of 104 was good enough to put him in the
top 3 for the first time this year.
Dick
Neroda had a big day on the course.
Dick captured the long drive on hole #8 (despite being the
oldest player on Tour) and also picked up a skin with a birdied on the
par 4 15th hole.
Ron
Vontroba continues to be one of the more consistent players on tour.
His 93 earned him a tie with Dick Neroda for third place.
The
difference this week between the top 4 players was the difficult 17th
hole. While George
Herrling parred the hole, Jake Zapolink took an 8, Dick Neroda had a 7
and Ron Vontroba had a 9!
Mike
Thompson continued his past success in the skins game by winning skins
on three straight holes. Both
he and Kevin Major birdied the first hole, by Mike picked up skins
with a par on the 3rd hole, a birdie on number 4 (plus a
pin shot) and a birdie on the par 5 5th hole.
Ken Schley managed to birdie the par 4 7th hole,
which was the most difficult on the course. Joe Scuer was surprisingly the lone player to birdie the par
5 10th hole. Dave
Hawk won the closest to the pin and a skin with his par on the 13th
hole. As mentioned, Dick
Neroda birdied the 15th and Gregg Roberts par on the par 3
16th hole was the final skin of the day.
For
the year, Michael Thompson is now the points leader, followed closely
by Dave Hawk, Joe Scuer, Gregg Roberts and Dave Wilson.
